Quebec counts 14 new deaths linked to COVID-19, hospitalizations down

Quebec reports Wednesday 14 new deaths attributed to COVID-19 and a drop in hospitalizations.

There are currently 1,599 hospitalizations, a decrease of 35 compared to Tuesday. Forty-eight people are in intensive care, down from six.

A total of 5,245 healthcare workers are absent for reasons related to COVID-19, such as preventive withdrawal or isolation.

The death toll stands at 15,312.

The Ministry of Health reports 728 new cases of COVID-19, for a total of 1,059,419 since the start of the pandemic. The number of cases listed is not representative of the situation since access to screening centers is restricted to priority clienteles.

A total of 209,237 rapid tests have been self-reported so far on the government platform, including 171,425 positives. For the day on Tuesday, 191 tests were declared, including 152 positive.

The Ministry of Health says 12,891 tests were carried out on Tuesday and the positivity rate is 6.3%.

With regard to vaccination, 12,370 doses have been administered in Quebec in the last 24 hours.

Among those aged 5 and over, 91% received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, 55% received a third dose and 13% received a fourth dose. Among those aged 60 and over, 39% received a fourth dose.
