Quebec Carnival | The Palais de Bonhomme closed

The mild weather recorded over the last few days forces the Quebec Carnival to restrict access to the famous ice palace.

This is what the festival management announced on social networks on Sunday morning.

For security reasons, the doors of the Palais de Bonhomme will remain closed to visitors, who will only be able to observe the ice residence from the outside.

The installation had been under surveillance for several days.

Earlier this week, Carnival closed the Sculpture Garden’s ice dome prematurely, due to high temperatures posing a risk to the structure.

More than 3,000 blocks of ice were needed to build the Palais de Bonhomme, which had a second floor for the first time this year.

“People will be able to go up and have a breathtaking view of Quebec City, the parliament and the entire site,” said programming director Jérôme Déchêne in January. The Press.

The 70e edition of the Quebec Carnival ends Sunday.
