Quebec and Ottawa reached an agreement on Friday for the construction of housing. Under it, the federal government would grant a sum of $900 million to the province as part of the Fund to Accelerate Housing Construction (FACL).
The federal Minister of Housing, Infrastructure and Communities, Sean Fraser, made the announcement on (formerly Twitter), late Friday, even describing the agreement as “historic”.
“We reached an agreement with Quebec on housing. This agreement is concluded at a time when we must do everything we can to resolve the housing crisis,” published the elected official.
An announcement will be made soon to disclose the details of this agreement, indicated on X the Quebec Minister of HousingFrance-Élaine Duranceau.
“I am very happy to have reached an agreement for Quebec with Sean Fraser regarding the allocation of funds from the FACL. […] We will not make any further comments until then,” she wrote.
The sum of $900 million was confirmed by The Canadian Press with a government source.
