(Quebec) A man who was allegedly in an advanced state of intoxication at the wheel of a car in which a baby was taking place was arrested late Sunday evening in northeastern Quebec.

After the intervention of the police, paramedics examined the child who was shortly after entrusted to the care of his mother.
The Service de police de la Ville de Québec (SPVQ) says the 31-year-old driver, who is banned from driving a vehicle, was arrested by a security guard after he left the parking lot. a licensed establishment on rue Clémenceau, in Beauport, from which he had just been expelled, around 10:50 p.m.
The agent noticed the presence of the sleeping toddler in the passenger compartment of the driver’s car.
Police then arrested the man for impaired driving, driving while prohibited from driving, criminal negligence and breach of probation.
While making the arrest, the police also noticed that the baby’s seat was not attached to the seat of the car.
The suspect then failed the breathalyzer test, showing a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal limit.
He is expected to face justice later Monday, at the Quebec City courthouse.
