Quebec | A 6-unit building destroyed by fire Tuesday evening in Limoilou

A six-unit building in the Limoilou district of Quebec was heavily damaged after a fire broke out late Tuesday evening.

The Quebec Fire Protection Service reports that no one was injured, but that none of the six dwellings can be reinstated. Some of the occupants receive assistance from the Canadian Red Cross.

The fire started shortly before 10:00 p.m. at the back of the building, for an as yet unknown reason. The evacuation of the building was completed before the arrival of firefighters on site.

The fight against the disaster was declared under control by the firefighters shortly after 1:00 a.m. They noticed that several of the smoke alarms in the apartments were missing.

The fire department went to the scene to determine the cause of the fire which would have started in the rear drum of the building.
