Quebec | 25-year-old man arrested for sexually assaulting a teenage girl

(Quebec) The Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) arrested Thursday evening a 25-year-old man suspected of sexually assaulting a teenager who was on his way to school.

The suspect is currently in custody and is due to appear on Friday. His arrest came following a report of a sexual assault that allegedly occurred on Wednesday morning. The victim was then walking towards his school in the Sainte-Foy-Sillery-Cap-Rouge borough, according to the SPVQ.

The police say they arrested the man at his home in Quebec after the opening of an investigation that mobilized investigators from the major crimes module. They worked with the collaboration of the Youth Intervention and Prevention Unit, the patrollers, the canine unit and the high school attended by the victim.

Known to police circles for similar cases, the suspect could have had other victims, the police believe.

The SPVQ thus recalls the importance of filing a complaint. “Whether the events are contemporaneous or not, we are committed to supporting any denunciation, as in all the cases we lead,” said Quebec police spokesperson David Pelletier.

To transmit information that will be treated confidentially, it is recommended to dial 418 641-AGIR (2447) and for people from outside Quebec City, 1888 641-AGIR.
