We must fight against the decline of French by repatriating immigration powers to Quebec in a “non-partisan” way, said the leader of the Conservative Party of Quebec (PCQ) Éric Duhaime on Tuesday.
Passing through Montreal, in the riding of Sainte-Marie–Saint-Jacques, Mr. Duhaime recalled that his political party was “the first” to oppose Bill 96. He therefore wishes to “repudiate” it, while proposing to “better protect and promote French”.
The repatriation of immigration powers to Quebec would send a “clear signal” to newcomers about French, said Éric Duhaime. The latter said he did not want to impose “coercive measures” to curb the decline of French.
The leader of the PCQ advocated a “positive” nationalism. “We don’t see the English as a threat, but rather as allies. »
