(Rouyn-Noranda) Québec solidaire promises to finance two more cultural outings per year for elementary and secondary school students. The party plans a budget of 40 million per year for this measure.

For the moment, school children are entitled to two free cultural outings per year. QS wants to double this program to allow young people “to go to the theater, discover music, learn to paint or make movies”, explains the party. The amount budgeted is equivalent to just under $20 per outing, including transportation.
According to QS, this measure “contributes to the academic success and mental health of young people” and makes it possible to “revitalize the cultural sector in all regions of Quebec”.
“The more students are in contact with culture, the more students have the opportunity to practice the arts, the less they drop out, the more they continue their studies after high school,” we write.
This is the second measure that the party has announced to promote the appeal of Quebec culture. During an announcement in Saguenay, the parliamentary leader of QS, Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois had promised to create a $200 “culture pass” for immigrants so that they can discover Quebec arts.
These commitments will “increase the cultural demand for shows, plays and museums throughout Quebec,” notes Quebec solidaire.
