QS and the PQ agree with Duhaime on containment

Like the controversial Éric Duhaime, the Parti québécois (PQ) and Québec solidaire (QS) believe that it is abnormal to undergo such strict confinement when so few patients are enough to clog the health network.

On Monday, the Conservative leader said that “we cannot continue to prevent Quebec from living to save the health care system forever”.

PQ leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon said in turn that it was “not normal”.

“We cannot make all the decisions solely based on the number of hospitalizations,” he said at a press conference on Tuesday, the day of the return to parliament in Quebec.

He notably mentioned the number of visits to emergencies for mental health reasons which is “accelerating”.

The parliamentary leader of QS, Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois, also maintained that it was “not normal” according to him.

“We entered this crisis with one of the lowest hospital capacities of all G7 countries. »

There are in Europe, all things considered, several countries in which there are more cases and more hospitalizations, but this puts less of a strain on their health system, because their hospital capacity is greater, argued Ms. Nadeau-Dubois.

For his part, Mr. St-Pierre Plamondon is calling for either an increase in hospital capacity, or otherwise, taking into account criteria other than hospitalizations to manage confinement, in the event that it is necessary to “learn to live with the virus, to use the words of the government,” he quoted.

“People are not doing well: we feel more and more in the population a dropout, a fatigue which is legitimate, because Quebecers have done everything that was necessary, but remain among the confined and there is no there’s not even an explanation. »

“Irresponsible”

Prime Minister François Legault condemned the positions of QS and the PQ.

In a press conference on Tuesday afternoon, he said he was “not surprised” by the positions of the Conservative Party, but that he was surprised by the similarities with the PQ and QS.

” That surprises me. It is not the Parti Québécois that I know. When I hear the Parti Québécois, then even Québec solidaire say that, in their view, there are too many restrictions, well, I find that irresponsible. »
