QS against possible compensation for the cessation of hydrocarbon exploitation

Québec solidaire (QS) asks the premier of Quebec, François Legault, not to give a penny more to the oil and gas companies.

Last week, the Prime Minister said he wanted to end exploration for hydrocarbons in Quebec and their exploitation, and that he was going to compensate the oil and gas companies.

The co-spokesperson for Québec solidaire, Manon Massé, responds that in addition to cutting compensation, the government must disclose to Quebecers everything that has been given to oil and gas companies, which she describes as a spill of funds. public.

In a press release released Thursday, the member for Sainte-Marie – Saint-Jacques, in Montreal, said that Quebec deprived itself of at least $ 5 billion by selling property titles at a discount to oil companies, and that ‘he lost 120 million in compensation in the Anticosti, Galt and Bourque projects.

She adds that $ 54 million will have to be disbursed by Quebec to secure and clean some thirty abandoned gas wells.

Manon Massé invites Quebec to assume its sovereignty over oil and gas. She accuses the CAQ government of being on its knees and taking more public money to buy peace with big polluters.
