QMJHL | The trophy for best defensive back awarded to Mikaël Diotte

(Boucherville) Drummondville Voltigeurs fullback Mikaël Diotte won the Kevin-Lowe Trophy as best defensive defender, the Maritimes Quebec Junior Hockey League announced Friday.

Carr (Rouyn-Noranda Huskies) and Pier-Olivier Roy (Victoriaville Tigres) were also in the running for this award.

Diotte finished second on the junior circuit with a plus-55 rating, tied with Alex Carr. Only Justin Gill, from the Baie-Comeau Drakkar, was ahead of him, at plus-57.

Never drafted, Diotte also had his best offensive season with 12 goals and 42 points in 59 games. The 21-year-old agreed to a three-year rookie contract with the New Jersey Devils in March.
