QMJHL | The Phoenix slows down the Remparts’ 14-game winning streak

(Sherbrooke) Joshua Roy put on a show and the Sherbrooke Phœnix slowed down the Quebec Remparts by winning 5-1 on Sunday.

The Montreal Canadiens’ prospect scored a hat trick and he participated in the two other goals for the Phoenix, which signed a second straight win.

The Remparts arrived in Sherbrooke with a 14-game winning streak and a victory against the Phoenix on Wednesday night. Patrick Roy’s men were however dominated from one end of the confrontation to the other.

David Spacek had a goal and two assists while Justin Gill added a goal for the Phoenix, who sit first in the Western Conference. The hope Ethan Gauthier has set the table for two successes of his.

Samuel St-Hilaire had a rather quiet afternoon of work, yielding only once in 20 shots.

James Malatesta replied for the Quebec squad, which still shows the best record in the QMJHL. Théo Rochette saw his series of matches with at least one point stop at 13.

William Rousseau saved 35 of the 38 pucks aimed at him for the Remparts.

Rousseau had only been foiled once in the first 40 minutes of play, but the Phoenix got going in the third period.

From the 52e second, Gill took advantage of the space created by a power play and fired a wrist shot that surprised the visitors’ goalkeeper.

Roy scored his second goal of the game jumping on a return shot in front of Rousseau’s net.

Spacek and Roy added an empty-net goal as Patrick Roy took the gamble on a four-on-four midway through the final third.

Olympics 6 – Armada 4

Zachary Dean and Cole Cormier both had a goal and two assists, guiding the Gatineau Olympiques to a 6-4 win over the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.

Drakkar 3 – Saguenéens 4 (Prol.)

Marc-André Gaudet played heroes in overtime and the Chicoutimi Saguenéens defeated the Baie-Comeau Drakkar 4-3.
