(Boucherville) Defenders Alex Carr, Mikaël Diotte and Pier-Olivier Roy are the finalists for the Kevin-Lowe trophy, which is awarded annually to the defensive defender par excellence of the Maritimes Quebec Junior Hockey League, the Cecchini circuit announced by via press release Thursday morning.
Carr set personal highs with seven goals, 24 assists and 61 games played in his third full career campaign with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. He also finished second in the QMJHL in terms of rating, at plus-55, even though he faced the best opposing forwards night after night.
For his part, Diotte, a veteran of four seasons in the QMJHL, set personal records with 12 goals, 30 assists and 42 points. The Quebecer finished second in the QMJHL in terms of differential, tied with Carr. Only Justin Gill, from the Baie-Comeau Drakkar, surpassed them with a differential of plus-57.
For his part, Roy shone with 50 points in 66 games, including a personal high of 10 goals, with the Victoriaville Tigres. Despite the absence of his teammate Tristan Luneau, Roy had an excellent plus-37 differential in his fourth season in the Quebec circuit.
The winner of the Kevin Lowe Trophy will be revealed on Friday.
Furthermore, the winner of the Michael Bossy trophy, which is awarded annually to the best professional prospect, will be announced a little later today. Forwards Raoul Boilard and Maxim Massé, as well as defender Spencer Gill, are the finalists for the trophy.
