QMJHL | The Cataracts defeat the Remparts thanks to Evan Courtois

(Quebec) Evan Courtois broke the tie with 2:59 remaining in the third period and the Shawinigan Cataractes defeated the Quebec Remparts 3-2 on Saturday.

Placed in front of the net, Courtois accepted a pass from Lorenzo Canonica and fired a quick shot that beat rookie goalkeeper Quentin Miller on the power play.

The Cataracts’ five-man attack had also been on the upswing about nine minutes earlier, when William Veillette jumped on a return pitch to tie the game.

Veillette finished the game with two goals and an assist for the Cataractes, who have gone undefeated in regulation in their last four outings (3-0-1).

Antoine Coulombe kept the fort while his team orchestrated a comeback. He yielded twice in 31 shots.

Kassim Gaudet and Pier-Olivier Roy gave the Remparts a 2-0 lead in the first period, but the lead didn’t hold.

The Quebec team suffered a second straight loss at home, after winning its first 14 games of the season at the Videotron Centre.

Miller stopped 22 of 25 pucks in his second start in less than 24 hours.
