Charlottetown Islanders center Patrick Guay, who scored eight goals and 11 assists in nine games, was named the QMJHL forward of the month for December.
The 19-year-old Magog has notably scored two winning goals and obtained four power-play goals.
Guay is tied for second in QMJHL scoring with 47 points in 31 games, and he sits atop the league with 25 goals. The fourth-year veteran was invited to training camp for the Arizona Coyotes last fall.
Defenseman Vincent Sévigny, traded from the Victoriaville Tigres to the Saint-Jean Sea Dogs, was named defenseman of the month.
The veteran contributed offensively in each of the Tigers’ seven games, including a four-point harvest against the Cape Breton Eagles on Dec. 9.
The honor of goalkeeper of the month was awarded to Fabio Iacobo of the Remparts de Québec. The 20-year-old from Saint-Léonard allowed two goals or less in each of his five starts during the month, including four straight wins to end the year.
Finally, Jakub Brabenec of the Islanders is the rookie of the month. The 18-year-old Czech has totaled four goals and nine assists in six games.
A fourth-round pick by the Vegas Golden Knights in the final draft, Brabenec rose to second in rookie scoring with 32 points in 28 games.
