QMJHL | Olivier Nadeau elected player of the week

(Montreal) Gatineau Olympiques forward Olivier Nadeau has been named player of the week in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, the league announced Monday morning.

Even though his club only played once last week, the winger from Lac-Etchemin took advantage of the opportunity to help the Olympiques, leaders of the West Division, come away with the victory. The fourth-year veteran scored two goals and four assists Friday night in the Olympiques’ one-sided 11-6 win at home against the Val-d’Or Foreurs.

Nadeau, who was acquired from the Shawinigan Cataractes during the offseason, began his season at the end of December after having shoulder surgery. Since then, he has been a key element of the Olympiques’ attack with 10 goals and eight assists in 13 games.

The Quebecer was selected in the fourth round, 97e overall, by the Buffalo Sabers in the 2021 NHL Draft.
