Chicoutimi Saguenéens forward Maxim Massé, his teammate in net Rémi Delafontaine and Halifax Mooseheads defenseman Brady Schultz are the players of the month for February in the Maritimes Quebec Junior Hockey League.
Massé earned the honor among forwards with nine goals and eight assists in 10 games. The QMJHL’s top-ranked prospect heading into the 2024 NHL Draft also had three game-winning goals to help the Sags compile a perfect 10-0-0 record in February.
In his second season in the QMJHL, Massé leads the Saguenéens with 31 goals and 63 points, two highs for him.
Schultz took top honors among defensemen with 17 points, including four goals, in 13 games. The 19-year-old American notably had a streak of five games with at least one point, including four consecutive games with more than one point. He had his best career game with four points, including the winning goal in overtime, in the first game of this sequence, on February 19.
A three-year veteran, he currently ranks second in scoring among defensemen with 52 points in 60 games.
Finally, among goaltenders, Delafontaine was perfect, signing eight victories in as many outings with a goals against average of 1.53 and an efficiency rate of .945, in addition to achieving a shutout.
Delafontaine enters the final month of the regular season with a 19-14-3 record. He is currently on pace to set career highs in both goals-against average (2.64) and save percentage (.906).
