(Montreal) Montreal Canadiens prospect Joshua Roy is the winner of the Paul-Dumont Trophy, awarded to personality of the year in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
The prize has been awarded annually since 1990 to an individual who has a positive media impact and who contributes to the well-being of the image of the QMJHL.
Roy played with the Sherbrooke Phœnix and shone with 46 goals and 53 assists in 55 regular season games. He added 12 goals and as many assists in 14 playoff games.
On the international stage, Roy helped Canada win the World Junior Championship, including assisting on the game-winning goal in overtime in the final against the Czech Republic.
Roy was selected by the Canadiens in the fifth round, 150e in total, in the 2021 draft.
The 19-year-old Roy also won the Michel-Brière trophy, awarded to the most valuable player for his QMJHL team.
The head coach and general manager of the Phoenix, Stéphane Julien, as well as the head coach and general manager of the Gatineau Olympiques, Louis Robitaille, were the two other finalists for obtaining the Paul-Dumont trophy.
