QMJHL Final | The Remparts win the first game against the Mooseheads 5-1

(Quebec) Justin Robidas scored twice as the Quebec Remparts won 5-1 against the Halifax Mooseheads on Friday as the QMJHL final kicked off.

The Hurricanes prospect scored at 5:06 in the first period and 10:51 in the second period.

Théo Rochette, Zachary Bolduc and Pier-Olivier Roy also scored for the Remparts, while William Rousseau made 26 saves.

Bolduc was drafted 17e in total by the Blues, two years ago.

Markus Vidicek replied, while Mathis Rousseau blocked 28 shots.

The Videotron Center hosted a full house of 18,259 people.

The second game will take place on Saturday evening, at the same place.

Robidas scored the first goal of the final in the sixth minute of the game.

He grabbed a short pass from Mikael Huchette and beat Rousseau over the right shoulder from the left circle.

The streak began after the visitors’ Mathieu Cataford lost the puck at the entrance to the opposing zone.

A fifth-round pick from Carolina in 2021, Robidas got his eighth goal since the start of the playoffs.

Patrick Roy’s squad doubled the cushion at 15:19 in the first period, via their captain.

Rochette scored with a backhand on a loose puck at the left mouth. Roy more or less missed his shot, but Rochette was in the right place at the right time.

Only 52 seconds into the middle period, Bolduc made it 3-0 with a long wrist shot.

Halifax closed the gap in superiority midway through the engagement. Vidicek scored with a one-timer, following a pass from Alexandre Doucet.

Earlier in the power play, Vidicek had allowed a dangerous rise of the opponent by losing the puck in the middle of the ice.

Robidas restored three priority goals to his home side, following a pass from Charles Savoie.

At 18:32 in the second period, Roy completed a perfect pass from Rochette to the edge of the net.

The Remparts led the league with 109 points in the regular season, two more than the Mooseheads.

Halifax came to the Old Capital with four straight wins at the expense of the Sherbrooke Phoenix.

Quebec swept Charlottetown, Rimouski and Gatineau – in addition to completing the regular season by winning eight straight games.
