The President’s Cup, which the Cataractes have coveted since 1969, remained in its trunk on Thursday evening. The Charlottetown Islanders made short work of the home team, winning 7-0 in front of a packed house of 5,422 spectators at Center Gervais Auto in Shawinigan. Leading 3 to 1 in the QMJHL final, the Cataractes will have another chance to lift the said trophy on Saturday in Prince Edward Island.

Backed up against the wall, the Islanders came out on top in the fourth duel after having escaped the first three meetings of the series. Left to his own devices, Cats goalkeeper Antoine Coulombe struggled like hell in holy water, limiting the visitors’ damage to a single goal after twenty minutes. Coulombe faced a heavy fire of 21 shots, against eight for his vis-à-vis Francesco Lapenna, in the first period.
