Qatar commits to investing 10 billion euros in the French economy by 2030, announces Emmanuel Macron

A series of financings by 2030. Emmanuel Macron announced having signed an agreement with the Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Tuesday February 27, relating to Qatari investment commitments amounting to 10 billion euros in the French economy.

During the exchange of toasts at the opening of the dinner given in honor of the Emir, on a state visit to France, the French president mentioned “an ambitious investment plan of 10 billion euros that we signed this afternoon”. These investments will take place in sectors such as energy transition, semiconductors, aerospace, artificial intelligence, digital, health and even the cultural industries.

The Emir of Qatar began a two-day state visit to France on Tuesday, focused on the release of hostages in Gaza and the relaunch of the process for the creation of a Palestinian state, as well as on strengthening the bilateral relationship . This first state visit by an Emir of Qatar in 15 years, and the first for Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, “constitutes an honor done to France and illustrates the depth of the ties which unite our two countries”underlined the Elysée.

A commitment of 200 million euros for the Palestinians

On the occasion of the visit, the two countries signed a declaration of intent in terms of humanitarian cooperation, particularly in Gaza, including a joint commitment of 200 million euros in favor of the Palestinians.

After the political discussions, it’s time for the state dinner in the company of political figures, from the world of sport, the economy and even culture. The captain of the French football team and star striker of PSG, Kylian Mbappé, and the president of the Parisian club, businessman Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, were notably invited. Former president Nicolas Sarkozy, former minister Jack Lang and Xavier Niel were also present.

France is the leading European investor in Qatar, with nine billion dollars invested in energy, aeronautics, infrastructure and tourism. It is also one of the five main recipient countries of investments from the Emirate.
