In the Pays d’Issoire, a nocturnal walk with a thermographic camera was offered to residents. Objective: identify energy-intensive homes to convince owners to renovate them. #TheyHaveTheSolution
That night, about twenty inhabitants of Parentignat, near Issoire, toured the town. A rather special twilight stroll with an expert in building renovation who, in his hands, holds a thermographic camera. The device detects energy losses in homes. The facades of the houses are auscultated with a magnifying glass. The camera screen gives its verdict. “When it’s dark, it’s cold. When it’s bright, it’s warm. If the facade appears warm, it means that there is a lot of heat coming out”, explains Bruno Ladray, shared energy advisor.
Among the inhabitants present is a couple whose house built about fifty years ago has been enlarged. “The ground floor appears with very warm walls. Upstairs, it’s colder because the construction is newer and more isolated”, notes the adviser. A valuable advice in this period when heating bills are soaring. “It’s very interesting because we have a diagnosis. It confirms our idea of isolating the ground floor of the house”, recognizes the occupant of this house.
This energy balance is offered by Rénov’actions 63, a free public service launched by the department. After the diagnosis, the owners are accompanied to estimate the work, finance it, find helpers and building professionals. “Today, there is not a day when we are not asked to make a one-euro boiler. The next day, it’s the heat pump; the day after, it’s the windows, etc. “, rejoices Vincent Tourlonias, Agglo Pays d’Issoire community advisor.
This institutional structure reassures owners against the many scams that exist in the field of energy renovation. In 2021, 3000 inhabitants of Puy-de-Dôme benefited from this departmental service.
