Météo France placed Haute-Loire and Puy-de-Dôme on orange vigilance in the strong wind, Friday April 8 from noon, as storm Diego approached. Three other departments were already on alert due to the expected gusts: Charente-Maritime, Deux-Sèvres and Vienne. Savoie is also placed on orange alert for avalanches.

According to forecasters, Storm Diego is “classic in intensity but unusual for the month of April”. She goes “cross the country from west to east” and “The strongest winds will blow from the Charente archipelago to the Massif Central, between midday and night from Friday to Saturday”. gusts “will be between 90 and 110 km / h inland, with peaks at 120 km / h on the coast”.

Savoie is affected by orange vigilance due to the risk of avalanches “dusty snow” who “trigger spontaneously in high mountains”. They “can become numerous and bulky, and threaten infrastructures located above 1,800 to 2,000 meters in altitude”, specifies Meteo France.
