Today the Car guide invites you into the fascinating world of classic car restoration. We are not, however, talking about just any classic cars… No, we are focusing more on the greatest classics ever offered by the Porsche brand!
We immerse you in the world of Pure Breed Factory, this Quebec workshop based in Boucherville which certainly makes more than one salivate. Specializing in the restoration of 911 models with air-cooled engines, Pure Breed offers a completely unique service in Quebec, and even in Canada.
A world of possibilities
When we arrived at Pure Breed Factory, five vehicles were in the workshop. The team, made up of mechanics, engineers and handymen, welcomed us with open arms by allowing us to visit every corner of the workshop and the backyard.
Its owner and founder, Shervin, dazzled us with his finished models. Among these, there was a Porsche 911 of declination 930, in sage color and with various accessories in bronze color. The entire passenger compartment had been modified, and modifications to the engine had also been made … look at the dimensions of the intercooler! Further on, we found another Porsche of the same color which was in fact a 1984 911 Carrera with a 3.6 L engine of the naturally aspirated 6-cylinder type.
The premise that the folks at Pure Breed Factory adopt is quite simple: if you can imagine it, they will strive to make it happen. During our visit, we were able to witness things that are usually only the subject of dreams. 3D imaging to reconstruct body panels in carbon fiber rather than aluminum, complete customization of the passenger compartment and its elements, refurbishment of driving components, transmission or even suspension and steering. Absolutely everything is there.
Unique concept in Quebec
How does it all work? Well, there are several options available to you. Pure Breed Factory is basically a restoration workshop. If you own a classic vehicle and want to restore it, the Boucherville team will make sure you wow it.
What happens, however, if you don’t own a vehicle, but want to get a finished product? No worries here, since Pure Breed Factory also offers a turnkey service. The company has an inventory available for sale that you can consult, on request, and also offers a “tracking” service: employees take care of finding a vehicle for you and restoring it to your liking.
Obviously, you can imagine that all this has a price. We are talking about $ 150,000 to $ 200,000 for a full service; which includes the tracking of the vehicle, its purchase and the restoration applied to it.
These numbers will surprise more than one, but it remains rather affordable compared to what is offered elsewhere in the world. First of all, to find something similar, you have to venture to the United States, England or elsewhere in Europe, since here Pure Breed Factory reigns alone. Then, when you look internationally, at Singer or Guntherwerks, in California, for example, you never get below a million US dollars for a similar service. Admittedly, the changes made are perhaps more drastic or more complete, but from there to justify up to 10 times the price requested by the Quebec workshop …
