Wednesday, August 24, the price of the basket from 20 Hours has increased again. Inflation is 9.23% over one year.

Inflation greatly impacts the price of the products that make up the basket from 20 hours. The price of pasta is one of the prices that has increased the most. The increase amounts to 21% for branded pasta and 47% for first-price pasta. The shortage of wheat is the cause of this strong increase. The price of meat also increases by 24% for brands while the increase for the first price amounts to 29%. “Before, my basket was 99 to 100 euros, today it is 150, 170”explains a consumer.

The first prices are particularly affected by this inflation. The price of first price olive oil increased by 42% and that of butter by 22%. “The increases are more significant on the first prices indeed because in the component of the prices proposed by the distributors, the weight (…) of the raw materials in particular all the increases in energy, energy prices will have a weight much more important“, explains Emmanuel Cannes. Hygiene products are also much higher, as well as bottled water.
