To cover the costs associated with using a car, some French people find solutions, such as carpooling or rental between individuals. On the Internet, advertisements offer parking spaces in private homes, particularly near train stations and airports. Jean-Nicolas Marnetwho lives nearby of Nantes airport (Loire Atlantique)created his company. Thanks to these cars, he earns half a minimum wage each month.
Deliver groceries
Several times a week, Nathalie Bouvais improvises as a delivery driver. Between her work and her home, she picks up groceries, but they are not hers. She delivers the bags to an individual using a mobile application. Today’s delivery, three kilometers from the supermarket, earns him 5 euros. A small amount, but Nathalie accumulated the deliveries. It’s a real supplement for this single mother on minimum wage. “It’s between 100 and 150 euros per month. Which allows me to pay for a small part of my fuel“, she says. The application is used on the outskirts of large cities, where supermarkets do not deliver.
