Punctuality | Air Canada and WestJet at the bottom of a ranking

(Toronto) Cirium, which conducts aviation industry analysis, says Canada’s two largest airlines ranked bottom for on-time performance this year.

The data company says that among the 10 largest airlines in Canada and the United States, Air Canada was the worst and WestJet Airlines was the second worst for punctuality.

Cirium reports that Air Canada had recorded on-time arrivals, that is, less than 15 minutes from the scheduled time, for approximately 55.6% of its approximately 143,000 flights in mid-December. . This percentage rose to 60.7% for WestJet and its approximately 89,000 flights.

Cirium says US carrier Delta Air Lines ranked highest in on-time arrivals for about 84% of its 960,000 flights.

The data does not include the myriad travel issues of the past week caused by major winter storms.
