Publications on COVID-19 | Social network X pays legal fees for reprimanded Canadian doctor

Elon Musk’s social network X says it will help pay the legal costs of a Canadian doctor previously reprimanded by authorities for her posts about COVID-19.

In a message published Sunday morning on the X News account, the company wrote that it was “proud to defend” the DD Kulvinder Kaur Gill against what she calls “government-backed efforts to cancel her speech.”

In 2021, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario warned the Brampton, Ont.-based pediatrician over her tweets, including one saying COVID-19 vaccination was not necessary.

The doctor is leading a crowdfunding campaign seeking $300,000 to help pay legal fees, including a costs order related to the lawsuit she filed against what she called a “malicious smear campaign in line “.

Mme Gill posted a message saying Mr. Musk was committed to paying for the remainder of his crowdfunding campaign and helping him appeal the College’s warnings starting in 2021.

The DD Gill identified Mr. Musk in a message asking for help earlier this week, saying she owed about $300,000 in fees due in four days.
