Jean Sébastien Beck, retired professor, is first and foremost a regional history enthusiast, already author of “2000 years of climate in Alsace and Lorraine”, published in 2011, a reference in our climatic history. He even did chronicles on France Bleu Elsass on the weather of yesteryear; President of the Climat association in Moselle-Alsace, he gives conferences on the theme of the evolution of our climate in the area, on the mood swings of the weather and even initiations to the weather and the climate. He self-publishes an addendum to his first climatic book: Climats and biodiversity in Alsace before the historical era. Since the creation of our planet and from the appearance of life on Earth, climatic conditions have sometimes evolved, taking on aspects almost unimaginable today, to the point of causing massive extinctions of plants and aquatic or terrestrial animals. Alsace, initially difficult to locate, has experienced all these vicissitudes: we know the geological formation processes that concern it, the stages in the evolution of biodiversity in the region over a period of hundreds of millions of years.
At the appearance of man on Earth, then in Alsace, especially from the end of the Quaternary glaciations, this book makes you discover the different settlements which, one after the other, brought the living conditions according to of the evolution of the regional climate which then remained within more reasonable limits. Even if our region did not yet have very precise limits before the arrival of the Romans in Gaul, the great economic and cultural richness of the life of the first “Alsatians” is indisputable… this book allows you to discover many facets. The book Climates and biodiversity in Alsace before the historical era is priced at 15 € on the internet, we will give you the link.
