Public sector | The first strike votes supported by more than 90%

(Montreal) The first strike votes held within the public sector common front unions show unequivocal support for a walkout.

Almost all of the votes that were recorded during this first week of assemblies, and of which The Canadian Press was able to review, exceed 90% support for the strike.

The mandate requested by the common front unions is one of unlimited general strike, which would be preceded by strike days, isolated or grouped together.

The votes held so far concern the health and social services sector as much as those of education and college teaching.

General meetings of union members must therefore be held until mid-October within the unions attached to the CSN, the CSQ, the FTQ and the APTS. Together, they represent 420,000 workers in public services.
