Public sector negotiations | Demonstrations and outbursts are multiplying

(Montreal) Demonstrations of all kinds are increasing in the public sector, both from the common front and from union organizations which are not part of it.




Monday morning, workers who are members of the common front demonstrated in front of the Treasury Board offices in Quebec, against the end, on September 30, of the payment of several bonuses or amounts received by certain categories of workers.

These bonuses concern psychologists, nursing staff, specialized workers, medical secretaries, as well as those who work with people in CHSLDs, for example.

Also, the Interprofessional Health Federation (FIQ), which is not part of the common front, and which represents 80,000 nurses, practical nurses and other healthcare professionals, held a “march for the health network” on Sunday 9 a.m. to Monday 10:30 a.m.

And early Monday morning, the Autonomous Federation of Education (FAE), which is not part of the common front, and which represents teachers at the primary and secondary levels, unfurled a banner at the building of the Federation of Education Centers. school services, the association which brings together employers.

For her part, the President of the Treasury Board, Sonia LeBel, affirmed that “it is normal, in a negotiation, for the unions to use pressure tactics like today. It’s their choice. » She was thus reacting to the common front demonstration which brought together several thousand people on Saturday in Montreal.
