Public sector negotiations | A union affiliated with the FAE recommends the rejection of the agreement in principle

A union affiliated with the Autonomous Federation of Education (FAE) recommends to its members to reject the agreement in principle concluded with Quebec, due to the government’s “apparent contempt” for teachers.

In an email sent to its members on Monday, the board of directors of the Haute-Yamaska Education Union (SEHY) recommends that they reject the agreement in principle concluded on December 27, at the end of a strike of 22 days.

The president of this union, Sophie Veilleux, did not want to grant an interview to The Press on this subject “before the members have decided on the agreement in principle”, which must be done on Saturday, January 20.

However, the union cites in its email the government’s “apparent contempt” for teachers and considers that it “does not significantly improve [les] working conditions, including the composition of the class.

Voting by unions affiliated with the FAE continues until January 25.

Over the past few days, several teachers affiliated with the FAE have expressed their dissatisfaction with what this agreement contains, particularly with regard to the composition of the class, one of the major issues in the negotiation.
