Second in its group at the end of the group stage of the Champions League, PSG expected tough opposition in the round of 16, facing a team which finished first in its group. The draw, carried out on Monday December 18 in Nyon (Switzerland) was ultimately rather lenient, since it designated Real Sociedad as the Parisians’ future opponent. The round of 16 first leg will be played on February 13-14 or February 20-21 at the Parc des Princes, then the return match on March 5-6 or March 12-13 in San Sebastian.

Real Sociedad has not played in the round of 16 of the Champions League since the 2003-2004 season, during which the Basque club was eliminated by Olympique Lyonnais (2-0 on aggregate). The San Sebastian team, where Antoine Griezmann was trained, will face PSG for the first time in its history.

The other matches in the round of 16 will see Porto and Arsenal, Napoli and Barcelona, Inter Milan and Atlético Madrid, PSV Eindhoven and Borussia Dortmund, Lazio and Bayern Munich, FC Copenhagen and Manchester. City, then Real Madrid and RB Leipzig.
