The Rouge et Bleu continue their journey. Opposed to OGC Nice during the last quarter-final of the French Cup, Paris Saint-Germain won without really trembling (3-1), Wednesday March 13, at the Parc des Princes. A success built thanks to the first forty minutes of high intensity, which allowed Luis Enrique’s men to take revenge on the Aiglons against whom they conceded their only defeat in the championship (2-3 at the Park on September 15).
1/4 final: Mbappé opens the scoring against the Niçois
Very pressing from the start of the match, the Parisians kept possession against the Aiglons. Present on the right side, Lee Kang-In crosses the ball which arrives at the feet of Kylian Mbappé. The Parisian captain continues the action with Fabián Ruiz who allows number 7 to score the first goal of the match.
Possible consequence of the choice of the Asturian coach to reserve his managers against Reims on Sunday, the aggressiveness displayed by the club from the capital left little hope for the visitors at the start. On a high recovery from Warren Zaire-Emery, Kylian Mbappé combined with an inspired Fabian Ruiz to open the score (14th, 1-0). The Spaniard then turned into a scorer after a blunder by Nice goalkeeper Marcin Bulka, pushed into a mistake by Ousmane Dembélé (35th, 2-0).
While Gonçalo Ramos, clumsy in front of goal (5th, 24th, 58th), struggled to aggravate the score, Lucas Beraldo scored his first goal with PSG with a header (60th, 3-1), a week after signing a remarkable performance on the Real Sociedad pitch. The young defender had been put in the best possible position, placed on the left despite the tenure of Lucas Hernandez.
Paris under pressure for five minutes
The excellent work of the first period on the PSG side almost came to naught when the Frenchman, in an unnatural position for him, allowed Gaëtan Laborde to revive his team on their first clear opportunity (41st, 2 -1). A goal which completely liquefied the rearguard of the French champions, then in danger until the break. Before the Ligue 1 leader regained his footing after returning from the locker room to ensure he reached the next round at the end of a long added time following bleeding from Bulka, hit in the nose on a free kick from Lee Kang-In .
1/4 final: Marcin Bulka bleeding after a decisive save
While he had just been saved by the crossbar during a free kick hit by Lee Kang-In, OGC Nice goalkeeper Marcin Bulka was hit head-on by his teammate Pablo Rosario.
Qualified for the quarter-finals of the Champions League, the capital club remains involved on all three counts, although it has not lifted the Cup since 2021. But before thinking about a possible final in Lille against the winner of OL-Valenciennes on May 25, the Parisians will host Stade Rennes on April 3 in the last four. For Nice, on the other hand, the path to Europe will involve a reversal of its current dynamic (5 defeats, 1 draw).
