David versus Goliath. HAS As the kick-off of the 15th final of the Women’s French Cup approaches, Sunday May 15 in Dijon, the Parisians are the big favourites. The stars of the capital face the players of Yzeure, a second division amateur club.
But the meeting is not played in advance. The proteges of former international Ophélie Meilleroux have already shown great realism in the semi-finals against FC Nantes (2-1), another D2 club. The Yzeurian club is only the second Division 2 representative to reach the final, after Le Mans in 2009.
Facing them, the Parisiennes, second in D1 two days before the end of the championship, will want to win a trophy that has eluded them since 2018. In the semi-finals, Paris Saint-Germain got scared against FC Fleury 91 in being led by two goals after 20 minutes of play before turning the tide and winning 4-2. Didier Ollé-Nicolle’s players will play the seventh final in their history in the competition. The kick-off will be given at 6:15 p.m., at the Gaston-Gérard stadium in Dijon.
