PSG-OM on October 16, a busy start for Monaco, an exceptional “boxing day”… The calendar for the 2022-2023 season unveiled

As soon as it is over, Ligue 1 is already preparing to start again. The Professional Football League (LFP) unveiled the calendar for the next season of the French championship on Friday June 17. Due to the World Cup in Qatar (November 21 to December 18), Ligue 1 had to make schedule adjustments. A break will take place between November 13, date of the 15th day, and December 28, date of the 16th. For the first time, France will therefore have its “boxing day”. The twenty teams in the championship will also face off on January 1, 2023.

The PSG, defending champion, will start its season on the lawn of Clermont, on August 7. The same day, the Breton derby will oppose Rennes and Lorient to Moustoir. The first big shock of the season will take place on the fourth day. PSG will host Monaco, third last season, on August 28 at the Parc des Princes.

Another very “hot” derby, the one between Nice and Marseille will be held in the middle of summer, on August 28 at the Allianz Riviera. This year, the “classico” between Paris and Marseille is scheduled for October 16, at the end of the 11th day (return match on February 26 during the 25th day). Another great poster expected from the championship, the duel between Marseille and Lyon will take place on November 6 at the Vélodrome.

In the fight with OM until the last day of the championship, AS Monaco will have a very perilous start to the season. Philippe Clément’s team will not be able to miss their start. During the first month of competition, the players from Le Rocher will successively face Strasbourg, Rennes, Lens then Paris Saint-Germain, four of the seven best teams last season. The Monegasques will continue with a derby against OGC Nice at the Allianz Riviera, then the reception of Olympique Lyonnais during the sixth and seventh days of the championship.

On the promoted side, the first day will not be easy. Back in Ligue 1, AC Ajaccio will start their season at Lyon, while the other returning to the top flight, Auxerre, will travel to Lille. Ligue 2 champion last season, Toulouse will be at home to celebrate their reunion with L1, against Nice, before hosting PSG on the third day.
