All the round of 16 finalists are now known. The sixth day of the Champions League group stage delivered its verdict and revealed the last qualifiers, from groups E, F, G and H. After an evening of twists and turns, PSG secured their qualification, while Porto clinched second place behind Barça.

Group E: Atletico asserts its first place against Lazio

Already assured of qualifying for the round of 16, Atletico Madrid and Lazio were competing for first place in the group, on the pitch at the Wanda Metropolitano. In the lead at the start of the match, the Spaniards were carried by a goal from Antoine Griezmann in the 6th minute. They finally won (2-0) to maintain their lead and finish first.

Third and sent to the Europa League, Feyenoord ended its C1 campaign with a defeat conceded in added time against Celtic (2-1), already eliminated from all European competitions.

Group F: PSG relieved, Milan in the Europa League, Newcastle eliminated

It was the most open group, with three clubs still likely to reach the eighth. Facing Dortmund, the only qualifier, PSG were playing for both their qualification and first place. Led, under pressure away from Newcastle, the capital club nevertheless saw itself out, but it ended up snatching its ticket for the final phase with a favorable draw (1-1), if not reassuring .

800 kilometers to the west, the Magpies thought they were playing a trick on the Parisians by leading for a long time against Milan and stealing the qualifying place from them. But the English were then overthrown (2-1), and lost everything. They are overtaken by the Italians, who finish third and who will compete in the Europa League in the spring.

Group G: already qualified, Manchester City and Leipzig ensure

All positions had already been fixed since the fifth day. Guaranteed to finish first in group G, Manchester City turned around and presented themselves on the pitch of Red Star Belgrade with a B team. Enough to secure a sixth victory after a wild match (3-2) and keep a perfect record. The Cityzens are the only ones, with Madrid’s Real, to score six wins in this group stage.

Also sure to play in the round of 16, Leipzig also finished with a victory, at home, against Young Boys Bern (2-1). The Belgians were already assured of finishing in third place and being transferred to the Europa League.

Group H: winner of a spectacular match, Porto accompanies Barça

There was a direct clash between Porto and Shakhtar to find out the identity of the last qualifier, and the reverse. And it was the Portuguese who secured their place for the round of 16, winning a prolific match in goals (5-3). Beaten despite their resistance, the Ukrainians will play in the Europa League play-offs.

Already qualified, Barça suffered its second defeat in the group stage by losing at the last minute on the pitch in Antwerp (3-2), which had nothing left to play for, despite the presence of numerous usual holders on the ground. But not enough to threaten first place for the Catalans.
