PSG’s Spanish goalkeeper Sergio Rico, the victim of a very serious horse riding accident which nearly cost him his life at the end of May 2023, will not be kept on by Paris Saint-Germain, France Bleu Paris learned on Friday June 28 from the player’s entourage.

The man who was third goalkeeper for the capital club at the time of his accident is under contract until June 30. It will not be extended by PSG for next season.

The 30-year-old Spanish goalkeeper was transported to the Virgen del Rocio hospital in Seville on May 28, 2023, the victim of craniocerebral trauma after a horse riding accident at the El Rocio pilgrimage, in Andalusia. He had been placed under sedation and respiratory assistance. He was released from the hospital in August, almost three months after his accident.

The goalkeeper, who joined PSG in 2019, received many tributes, including from the Parc des Princes crowd, who chanted his name throughout PSG’s final match of the season against Clermont in early June.
