It was no longer a big secret but it is now official: Angel Di Maria will leave PSG at the end of the season. The 34-year-old who arrived from Manchester United in 2015 played 294 games with Paris Saint Germain, won 18 titles, scored 91 goals and delivered 111 assists. With these 111 passes, Di Maria is the best passer in the history of PSG.
Despite his service, Lionel Messi’s best friend is coming to the end of his contract on June 30 and PSG has not offered him an extension. The player wanted to stay but his very high salary and a very average 2021-22 season convinced the leaders not to continue the adventure.
In a press release, President Nasser al-Khelaïfi salutes the one who spent seven seasons at PSG: “Angel Di Maria has definitely marked the history of the Club. He will be remembered by supporters as a player of impeccable spirit, who showed unwavering commitment to defending our colours. I invite the whole Paris Saint-Germain family to meet this Saturday at the Parc des Princes to pay him the tribute he deserves.”
The club has therefore decided to celebrate Angel Di Maria, as has the Collectif Ultras Paris, which will also give back in its own way to the best passer in the history of PSG during the PSG – Metz match on Saturday (9 p.m.).
