Prime Minister François Legault was in Sainte-Adèle on Thursday to present the candidate.
“I always said that one day I would go into politics. I was in no rush, but I think the stars were aligned,” France-Élaine Duranceau told an enthusiastic crowd of friends and supporters.
“I liked what I saw in the last four years. I liked the CAQ’s approach, an approach that is focused on actions and concrete results,” she continued.
The riding of Bertrand, in the Laurentians, is currently held by the Minister of International Relations and La Francophonie, Nadine Girault. In July, the latter announced that she will not seek a new mandate due to health problems.

Prime Minister François Legault was delighted to welcome one more accountant to his ranks. “The CAQ is a pragmatic party,” he insisted. And accountants know how to “emphasize efficiency,” said Mr. Legault.
In recent years, the candidate was also vice-president of the company Cushman & Wakefield, specializing in commercial real estate.
