Charlevoix–Côte-de-Beaupré Caquiste MP Émilie Foster is expected to announce this week that she will not seek a second term in the provincial elections this fall.
Ms. Foster’s attaché had indicated to the “Journal de Québec” at the beginning of April that the elected official, who was an adviser to the cabinet of François Legault in the opposition, was “reflecting on her political future”.
Tuesday morning on Twitter, the Premier of Quebec thanked Émilie Foster for the past four years.
“The people of Charlevoix-Côte-de-Beaupré will have had an endearing and very passionate MP. Good luck for the future!” he said.
Ms. Foster will be the fifth elected caquiste to announce her departure, and the fourth woman to do the same.
Ministers Marguerite Blais and Danielle McCann will not be back, as will the member for Verchères, Suzanne Dansereau, who also bowed out.
The member for Rivière-du-Loup, Denis Tardif, also announced a few days ago that he will not run again.
