NASA has unveiled the prototypes of its astronauts’ suits for their next mission to the Moon. They notably contain soft and hard joints at the same time, which allows a better range of movement.
A parade like no other was held in the heart of Arizona (United States). NASA has just unveiled the prototypes of its astronauts’ suits for their next mission to the Moon, 50 years after Apollo. The suit has been designed with both soft and hard joints, for increased range of movement.
Another new feature of these suits: a control screen to communicate with Earth. “For now, mission operations are done through audio only, but when we go to the Moon with Artemis, and to Mars, we will need to give the crew greater authority and better skills to make decisions,” says a NASA employee. With the Luna mission, the Americans should set foot on the Moon again in September 2026.
