The weekend promises to be tense in Sainte-Soline, in Deux-Sèvres, where thousands of activists have taken the path to the site where “mega-basins” are to be set up. Journalist Camille Nowak, present on site, takes stock in 12/13.

The day has only just begun and promises to be long in Sainte-Soline (Deux-Sèvres), Saturday March 25. “For the moment, the police on site are on standby, pre-positioned and ready to intervene if there is the slightest overflow”, comments Camille Novak, alongside the authorities present. “We await the procession heads approaching. The procession would be less than two kilometers away”adds the journalist.

A liaison team sent to discuss with the demonstrators

The strategy of the gendarmes was thoughtful upstream to try to manage the situation without violence. “The objective initially will be to send a so-called gendarmerie liaison team, made up of three gendarmes, to discuss with the demonstrators. They will remind them of the ban on going to the site of Sainte-Soline. All this, they hope, in a peaceful atmosphere, without any overflow. But if ever the climate becomes tense, the police are ready to intervene.”concludes Camille Nowak, live from Deux-Sèvres.
