After negotiating last night with the government, the Federation of Education Unions (FSE) will submit a proposed regulation to its authorities on Friday.
This information from a union source concerns the outcome of the discussions on working conditions other than wages which took place at the sectoral table where the FSE sat.
The proposed regulation must be sent to the federal council of the union, which will decide whether it is an agreement in principle which can then be submitted to the members. The FSE, affiliated with the Centrale des syndicats du Québec (CSQ), and the government side, continued negotiations last night.
The question of salaries continues to be the subject of discussions at the central table led by the Common Front, notably composed of the CSQ.
The other education union, the Autonomous Education Federation (FAE), has been on an indefinite general strike since November 23.
From government and union sources, discussions have intensified at all tables, to varying degrees, since Thursday, but the word “blitz” is used.
Meetings are planned for this Friday at the central table and the hope of a settlement by Christmas remains.
