Bad news: this year again you will have to put your hand in your wallet, especially if you live in one of the cities where property taxes are increasing the most. National record in 2024 for Nice (Alpes-Maritimes) which recorded an increase of + 19.2%, Saint-Priest next to Lyon occupies the second step of the podium with 16.3% increase, finally, Saint-Etienne ( Loire) is third with + 15%.
For taxpayersborn, that’s several dozen additional euros to pay, enough to make you complain and cut into the budget. And even if your municipality has opted for the status quo this year, you will still have to pay more: since 2018, the calculation of the tax has been indexed to inflation. Result: an average increase of 3.9% for the 33 million French owners. Which always means less purchasing power.
