After a week of debates and exchanges at COP26, what conclusions can we already draw from the climate conference? While protests have taken place across the globe, a few promises have already been fulfilled.
Hundreds of processions around the world, Saturday, November 6, posted portraits of heads of state who are not doing enough for the world and the climate. In Paris, as in many capitals across the planet, demonstrators have shown their dissatisfaction with promises made and not kept during previous COPs. “The results we get from COP26 are disappointing”, expresses a demonstrator.
Several commitments were made during the first week of the Climate for the Planet conference. For example, that of keeping the global temperature increase at just 1.5 degrees, a commitment already made at COP 21. The promise of carbon neutrality has also been made by a few countries, including India and the United States. Brazil. The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, spoke at the COP26 forum on this subject. The deforestation and charcoal deals disappoint, however.
