The police custody of two suspects in the murder of a 45-year-old woman, whose body was found in the trunk of a car on Saturday evening in Nice, have been extended by 24 hours, France Bleu Azur indicates Sunday, January 2. They are the companion, or ex-companion, of the victim, aged 60, and one of her three sons, aged 24, and owner of the vehicle in which the woman was found.

According to the first elements of the investigation, the victim was killed by strangulation. The deputy prosecutor specifies that his companion, or ex-companion, came to the police to report an argument, but he said he did not know at that time in what condition his wife was. He then led investigators to the body.

The couple’s other two children are 21 and 17. On Twitter, the mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi said on Saturday “devastated” after the discovery of the victim’s body, and hears “denounce the horror”. He claims to turn his thoughts “to the children, family and relatives of the victim who was an agent of our community”.

This is the third femicide identified for the year 2022 after those discovered in Meurthe-et-Moselle and in Maine-et-Loire. The feminist collective against gender-based and sexual violence #NousToutes counted 113 feminicides in 2021.
