For several years, the Nestlé group’s mineral waters were treated illegally. Consumer defense associations demand the truth.
On their labels, mineral waters promise pure natural water and therefore unfiltered. However, for years, some bottled waters have been treated illicitly. The Nestlé group is particularly singled out for its bottled water brands: Contrex, Hépar, Vittel and Perrier. The firm acknowledges having used filtration systems until 2021. Non-compliant treatment which was essential, according to it, to guarantee the quality of its source water.
Four problematic wells closed in 2021
Consumer defense associations are demanding that all the light be shed. “The real question is: ‘Since when have these products which do not comply with regulations been on the market?'” asks Ingrid Kragl, from the NGO Foodwatch. The company closed four of its problematic wells in the Vosges in 2021. It ensures that to date, all of its mineral water production complies with regulations.
