Profits on the rise for CGI in the first quarter

The Montreal group CGI reported on Wednesday an increase in its revenue and profit in the first quarter of fiscal year 2022.

The computer firm recorded revenues of 3.09 GS, up 6.8% over the corresponding quarter, while net profit rose 11.9% to $367.4 million.

Diluted earnings per share increased 12.9% to $1.49 for the same period.

CGI’s cash flow from operating activities was around $484.3 million, or 15.7% of its revenues, during the first quarter.

CGI reported new contracts signed worth $3.6 billion, while the value of its backlog nearly doubled its annual revenue.

“CGI entered fiscal 2022 with strong results. We are indeed seeing accelerating revenue growth, a strong portfolio of new signed contracts and an increase in earnings per share of more than 10%,” said George D. Schindler, President and Chief Executive Officer of CGI. .

“With a net gain of 6,000 employees over the last 12 months, our goal remains to generate revenue growth and an increase in earnings per share of more than 10% for fiscal year 2022”, he anticipated.
