Until December 30, the Christmas tree is revealed in all its seams in the city which is, quite simply, at the origin.
It was on December 21, 1521 exactly that for the first time the use of whole trees for Christmas celebrations was recorded.

Pagan icon representing the passage to Winter. This tree today so connoted at Christmas was once the symbol of hope and perseverance to get through this season, certainly pretty, but above all restrictive and dependent on past harvests.
Professor Sappinus is the ambassador of this tree and the history that accompanies it. During all the festivities organized by the town of Sélestat on this occasion, he plays the troubadour through the streets of the city to tell the stories and anecdotes that the Christmas tree has conveyed from the Middle Ages to today.

This Sunday, December 19, will take place The great celebration of the Christmas tree, with for the occasion a multitude of events to discover in detail on the site of the city of Sélestat
